Melbourne International Film Festival is creeping up on us once again and there is an impressive program of cinema screening in our fair city from July 31. One of these is the hotly anticipated music documentary Time is Illmatic, which chronicles the life and musical influences of Nas leading up to his seminal album Illmatic.

The film, which opened the Tribeca Film Festival this year, will be screening during MIFF (check sessions here), and is a must-watch for fans of the iconic album, or hip hop head in general, really. The Festival program will also feature an event as part of their Talking Pictures portion, where punters will be able to engage in a discussion panel about the now 20-year-old album and its impact on hip hop culture.

The event is free but RSVP is essential, so make sure you book your seat here.
