FKA Twigs is the creative director behind a new Nike project

The London extraordinaire is taking over pop culture one campaign at a time

There’s no stopping Tahliah Barnett. After turning heads last year with her incisive Baltimore Dance Project and launching a new fan site, this jack-of-all-trades has just announced her involvement in a new Nike campaign.

Titled do you believe in more? the campaign is being released alongside a new line of NikeWomen’s Spring Zonal Strength Tights, for which FKA Twigs is the Creative Director. According to Nike’s official website, the London singer-songwriter has “conceptualised, directed, performed and soundtracked a collection of work that sheds light on the power of modern movement and defines sport as an important channel of expression.”

The campaign features an accompanying video which showcases the new attire and its versatility with different physical movements including dance, running and combat sports. The video is also quintessentially FKA Twigs in its proclivity for visual obscurity, its emphasis on the writhing human body form and the oh-so-cheeky inclusion of an unreleased track by the acclaimed singer-songwriter.

Twigs says she was inspired by “different genres of sport” to help design a line of activewear which supports all forms of physical movement. Twigs also says the campaign line; do you believe in more? was inspired by her childhood when her enthusiasm motivated her to continuously take classes in new forms of art, dancing and acting.

She also said it was an opportunity to “inspire people who want to use their bodies in a positive way.”

“For me the dream is that you don’t even realize you’re working out. You’re just doing you, and then the results come, and you value them as they’re happening.”

The new line of NikeWomen’s Spring Zonal Strength Tights is now available via Nike’s official website. Check out the campaign’s promotional video above.
