DFA Records founder and former LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy teamed up with Belgium’s 2ManyDJs to produce a 50,000 watt sound system with DFA engineer John Klett. The incredibly baller 11-foot tall, eight tower, vinyl-only system was given a sweet three day test run at the Manchester International Festival. The boys decided to take it back to the old school and remove the DJ ‘pedestal’ – deciding to play quite discreetly to the large crowd, pouring the focus into the good vibes and the quality sound. The system, aptly named ‘Despacio’ – Spanish for ‘slow’, hence the whole vinyl thing – cost a few hundred grand and is stored in a specially designed room. Here’s hoping we can witness it in action sometime soon. For now, check the video above.
