If you didn’t already know why Kanye West named his track ‘Bound 2’, it’s because there is already a ‘Bound’ in existence. The original track, which features the distinct vocal sample, was sung by The Ponderosa Twins Plus One circa 1970. Just before Christmas (when most people are getting their legal activities in order) former bandmember and singer Ricky Spicer filed his lawsuit against West, and his affiliate record labels, for the unauthorised use of his vocal sample. The Hollywood Reporter managed to get a hold of the complaint, which claims that Yeezy is in breach of copyright laws, among other counts, and Spicer is claiming for damages.

This musn’t be the first time the sample-happy ‘Ye has been threatened with legal action over his tracks, so I’m sure he (or his team) will respond accordingly. And with all those royalties he’ll be getting from adidas, surely he can afford to do the right thing and offload some.
