Kaytranada has further proved himself to be one of the best things to happen to music in 2016 by winning Canada’s prestigious Polaris Music Prize.

The prize is awarded to Canadian albums, without focus upon any specific music genre or how the album was received by critics. A grand jury of 11 were left to decide from those shortlisted.

Along with the honour of winning the award, Kaytra takes home a sweet $50,000 CAD, not that it’s likely he will be needing it, given his ever-growing success.

The electronic producer won the award for his debut studio album 99.9% which features artists such as Vic Mensa, Anderson Paak, Syd, and AlunaGeorge.

If you’ve been busy hanging out under a rock, listen to the award winning album on Spotify.
