Kendrick Lamar‘s To Pimp a Butterfly has racked up 9.6 million Spotify plays in it’s first day, breaking the world record that previously belonged to Drake‘s If You’re Reading This It’s Too late by almost 3 Million. Drake’s album still has a few notches on To Pimp a Butterfly that the botched release might not to be overcome, but convincingly beating Drake’s 6.8 million opening day plays is a phenomenal start.

It looks a little bit too early for first weeks sales projections but we’ll keep you updated on whether it gets close to the brash million that Jay Rock estimated.
