DJ Premier and Pete Rock have both been fixtures in the game since the mid-’80s. DJs, producers, remix artists – these guys know how to make beats, and are both generally considered to be not only the most influential hip-hop producers of the ’90s East Coast era, but responsible for laying the foundations of what we call hip-hop today. Premo is credited by Rolling Stone as being arguably the greatest hip-hop producer of all time, and Pete Rock is generally considered to be the major sound influence of Dilla, 9th Wonder, and even Yeezy. Between the two of them, they have worked with every hip-hop act you could think of – and a whole lot more that you couldn’t. Let’s take a look at some of their all-time classics.
