Jokes about the Drake/Blake rhyme notwithstanding, the Canadian rap phenom and UK singer/songwriter/producer have a fair bit in common. Both artists offer up often dreamy tunes that are close enough to each other that some bright spark put together a full mashup album called James Drake in 2011, and as James Blake opened for Drake’s OVO Fest back in August 2013, it seems a pretty logical conclusion that Blake would end up remixing one of Drake’s songs. The song is ‘Come Thru’, a bonus track from the Nothing Was The Same album. Blake’s synth-heavy remix improves the track from being a relatively standard soul-inspired thing to sounding like some sort of dark funky 8-bit horror theme.
