Flying Lotus‘ rapping alter-ego Captain Murphy has just released new track ‘Cosplay’, the the latest instalment in the 2014 Adult Swim Summer Singles.

This grimy track recently got a backstory that was revealed through a short animated film titled The Birth of Captain Murphy. The film covers the origins of the rapper as we “bear witness to his divine presence, kneel to his omnipotent power and follow him to triumphant glory.”

Captain Murphy appears on the 2012 Duality mixtape and on Flying Lotus’ upcoming album You’re Dead! which drops October 6 through Warp Records.
