Let’s be honest here, no one gets that excited about a posthumous album or EP being released anymore. No disrespect intended, but the estates of 2Pac and Biggie kind of ruined that, as some things that weren’t released, probably weren’t for a reason.

The people surrounding legendary Detroit producer J Dilla, on the other hand, have been patient and have been releasing respectable work of the late great beatmaker in a more sensible manner.

The latest being from PayDay, the production company original founded by Dilla. They will be releasing The Diary, a collection of mostly raps by the producer with production on behalf of Madlib, Pete Rock, Nottz, House Shoes, Karriem Riggins and others. This first released track for the EP below, Anthem, see’s the producer showing off this full capabilities as an MC has ready to get the party started and if it’s anything to go by, this should be another great release from the artist who somehow keeps giving.
