On his latest self-help rap anthem ‘My Thoughts’, 28 year-old Kevin Gates spits wisdom beyond his years. Even if he didn’t know what he was talking about I doubt anyone would notice anyway because Kevin goes real hard on this one. No, really – with this sort of vocal delivery he could be spitting about chicken nuggets and people would still listen. The fact that he actually has something interesting to say is just an added bonus for me.

Gates is most enthralling when giving his OG perspective on the social media generation, whom he thinks are wasting their lives away when they “quote your lyrics on their Instagram pictures.” Unfortunately though, Kevin crosses the line when he declares “They got time to be on Twitter / They ain’t got a damn life,” a sentiment that I personally find highly offensive.
