Stepping out of the box and revealing his more emo sensitive side, is Mac Miller who pays homage to indie rockers Bright Eyes 2004 song ‘Lua’. Not changing a single note and staying true to its acoustic origins, this is an homage as opposed to a re-imagination.
Talking to Rolling Stone, Miller had this to say about his intentions:
“That song was my middle school depression song. Conor is one of the best songwriters/storytellers of our time. Throughout the years, that song has continued to speak to me. There are two kinds of covers: one you play because you know and like it and one that you believe every word you’re saying like they are your own. Real hip-hop.”
