Abel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd, enjoys hyper-sexualising songs because he can get away with it. In his interview with Complex he had this to say:

“I can say “Pussy-ass n-gga” in the most elegant and sexiest way ever, and it’s accepted. If I can get away with singing that, I’m doing something right.”

He can also get away with saying things like this:

“But when she put it in her mouth she can’t seem to reach my— / Ballin’ ain’t an issue for me…”

And he can do this in a croon that you can play in the car with your mum without her even noticing.

His new song ‘The King of the Fall’ follows the same path and comes off like a more charming R Kelly with liberal bass. If you’re somehow not familiar with his music, ‘The King of the Fall’ is as good an intro as any.
