When Melbourne artist and producer LUCIANBLOMKAMP released his debut exploratory album Post-Nature in 2014, we stopped and listened. Now, two years on, the 22 year-old has commanded attention again, thanks to the release of his sophomore album Bad Faith.
Featuring singles ‘The Overman’ and ‘From Afar’, Bad Faith can be difficult to describe. It’s melancholic. It’s haunting. It invites surrealist dreamscapes. It’s contradictory. Yet it is this contradiction, according to the artist, that serves as the record’s masterpiece.
“[Bad Faith] is about everything and nothing. In some ways, its lack of meaning becomes its own deeper meaning. Similarly this reflects in the tracklist and my choice to have half the album instrumental and half the album featuring vocals.”
