Whether or not it’s your bag, The Big Day Out is still Australia’s biggest festival and the Melbourne leg is not a bad way to spend an Australia Day. All the turmoil around whether it was going to go ahead or not (thanks to a parting of ways with the organisers) seemed to have been washed away by a day full of top-of-the-line performers and good times. This year’s line-up had the usual consistent mixture of rock, rap and beats with: Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Bloody Beetroots, Childish Gambino, Death Grips and Animal Collective to name a few.
