How’s this for some good news on a Monday morning? Leading up to their Australian festival appearances later this year, seminal hip hop band The Roots will also be playing two sideshows for lucky fans in Melbourne and Sydney.

Founded in 1987 by old mates ?uestlove and Black Thought, the group has an unrivalled catalogue of classic and groundbreaking hip hop records, are touted as the greatest live hip hop band and are still some of the highest respected musicians in the industry. Taking a short break from their current employ as the house band for Jimmy Fallon’s late night show, ?uest, Black Thought and co. will be bringing their dynamic live show to Australian shores for the first time (finally!).

Presented by Frontier Touring Company and Illusive, The Roots will be hitting Hordern Pavilion in Sydney (December 27) and Melbourne’s Festival Hall (December 28). Support will be provided by Aussie hip hop wunderkind Urthboy at both all ages shows.
