Bringing his “sonic style” dubstep to our shores later this month is DJ and producer, Lorin Ashton, the electro-genius behind Bassnectar. His dizzying live performance has travelled from Coachella to Lollapalooza, and will be landing in Australia for the Big Day Out.

We caught up with Lorin to talk about his addiction to life, his Australian experience and getting his brain rattled…

My name is….

Lorin Ashton

By day I…

Work…which feels like play.

By night I….

Dream about work, which feels like sleep.

My favourite TV show is…

Arrested Development (or National Geographic)

The last movie I watched was…

Donnie Darko, 12 Monkeys, The Weather Underground

The first CD I ever bought was…

I remember a cassette tape by The Cure.

The last was….

I bought “It’s The End Of The World As We Know It” by REM to remix it for NYE.

If I wasn’t making music I would probably be…

Enjoying many creative projects, too long to list

I’m addicted to….

Geeking out, being productive, making the most of life.

The best thing about performing is…

Connecting with large groups of people, forming a united amorphous organism.

The worst thing is…

The volume. 7 nights straight of 2.5 hours of 120 DB of 80 Hz makes my brain rattle.

When I get to Australia I can’t wait to…

Play music @ Big Day Out.

The last time I was in Australia I…

Played 9 shows in 11 days, and barely slept.

When I tour I like to…

Headbang, jump around, stretch a lot, make people laugh.

The last thing I ate was…

Coffee.

My fave youtube vid is (link)…

Anything where the comments are disabled

My computer’s wallpaper is…

Default setting.
