Small Talk: Rachel Haircut

We Chat 90's, Donkey Kong And Beats With Half of Melbourne-Based Duo

Posted By Rebecca Florence |

While duo James Hewson and Hayden Quinn seem to take inspiration from certain A-symmetrical haircuts that were popular in 90’s circa Friends, and one half admits to ACCLAIM that he enjoys the questionable year of 1997, Rachel Haircut’s music is anything but out-of-date. Inspired by 90’s pop, 70’s psychedelic, their latest drop Reserve is the type of music to rave to at a warehouse party wearing stonewash jeans. We make some SMALL TALK with Hayden about the EP.

My name is… Hayden Quinn

I live in… A house, Melbourne Aus

My EP is called… Reserve EP

Some of the things that inspired it are… Extreme anxiety attacks, 1997, VHS players & love

It’s cover art looks like… A 70’s LP cover

My favourite track is… On this EP? Drench.Sf2

The person I can imagine listening to it is… Generous towards me with their time, thanks in advance.

My favourite mixtape would include… That mix tape stamp that goes: “Damn son, where’d you find this?!!?”

When I’m not making music I… Stress/Play Donkey Kong Country

The last thing I downloaded was… The latest episode of The Newsroom, I love to hate it.

The next project I’m working on is…
A remix for a guy.
A split single with another guy
A new EP
