Snoop has transformations on lock.

He has even given girl-next-door turned loose-cannon turned responisble-ish mother Britney Spears a run for her money with his latest personality change.

Snoop Lion is a thing of the past; it’s now all about Snoopzilla. Oh and reggae is also over, and funk is the new thing.

Confused? Got whiplash? It’s okay – I’ll break it down for you.

Once upon a time there was Snoop Dogg, who was all about West Coast G-funk and had honeys hanging off his arms and twirling his braids. Then Snoop D-O Double G was reincarnated as Snoop Lion, a rasta rapper with a reggae-flavoured album. Then, after receiving mixed reviews of said album and accompanying documentary it seems this identity is being shelved for the time being.

Now this being of many forms is returning to his roots – or somewhere near there – and becoming Snoopzilla, funk pioneer.

This new alter-ego coincides with Snoop’s latest project alongside Dam-Funk, which sees the two teaming up to form new funk group 7 Days of Funk.  Snoop’s early Dr Dre produced Discography is part of G-funk’s DNA, so it’s not a completely left of field reinvention that he has turned back to funk influences.

Take a listen to the freshly released debut track, ‘Faden Away‘, from 7 Days of Funk below.
