Swedish digital music service Spotify has launched in Australia today. Allowing you to stream more than 16 million tunes, the free music service (with ads, with no ads there is a subscription fee) is touted to “set to change the way we access and enjoy music”. The site allows you to share music with your friends via Facebook and create playlists, it also has added functionality via apps. No response so far in regards to what the Oz Record Industry thinks of the launch but no doubt interesting times are ahead, especially given competition with existing streaming services that recently launched in the country like Grooveshark and Rdio, as well as the omnipotent iTunes. So, we ask, will you sign up for Spotify? Why/why not?
