The day before the release of Straight Outta Compton film, Billboard placed arguably the most influential hip-hop artist of today Kendrick Lamar, with N.W.A, one of the most prominent rap groups of the ’90s. The 25-minute interview hosts intriguing insights into the lives of Lamar’s Compton heroes, with each member thoughtfully discussing every aspect related to being a famous rapper.

N.W.A members Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, MC Ren, and DJ Yella discuss the music business, the best aspects of being an MC, the late Eazy-E and the impact that he had on the group, and what they think about the current hip-hop scene of today.

Kendrick admits that “Anything that I do, at all, has come from what y’all done,” opening up the question about who the rappers listen to in 2015, with Dr. Dre responding “your shit is the top of my playlist all the time,” and the crew admitting that Drake and Pusha T are also amongst their favourites.
