The music of the late Tupac Shakur is being made into a highly anticipated Broadway musical. The show, titled ‘Holler If Ya Hear Me’ will run at the Palace Theater in New York from June 19.

While the production is based on the late rapper’s lyrics, featuring songs such as ‘California Love’, ‘Keep Ya Head Up’, ‘Me Against The World’ and the musical’s title song, ‘Holler If Ya Hear Me’ it will not be about his life.

The script, written by Todd Kreidler, will instead follow two friends living in a poor Midwestern industrial city in a story of “friendship, family, revenge, change and hope.”

Musician, actor and writer Saul Williams will lead the the non-biographical drama, while Broadway actors Christopher Jackson, Tony Award-winning Tonya Pinkins, as well as Saycon Sengbloh and Ben Thompson will form the rest of the cast.
