If you can, throw it back to late 2014, when you first heard Vince Staples‘ breakthrough EP Hell Can Wait and how it made you feel like you were riding around Cali with your homies. If you can’t, then, fortunately for you, Staples has mastered the ability of bringing his lyrics to life.

‘Screen Door’ is the latest single to be treated to a set of visuals and gives as a peek into the life of a 21-year-old rapper from Long Beach. Directed by Spike Jordan and C. Blacksmith, the video centres around the screen door and follows the life of Staples, from his daily encounters with the police, hanging out with the homies, dealing with a drug fiend father and how hard it was as a kid growing up on the streets to escape his brutal reality.
