The news of the band’s announcement, made over Twitter, has hit the interwebs hard with rumours of possible collaborations and tour dates all over the place. This album will be the band’s fourth full-length studio album following their 2009 release It’s Blitz.

The album is said to be released in the spring of 2013, as for the first two statements in their announcement, no clue. Perhaps they have something to do with the not-at-all strange picture posted alongside the news (above).

It is known that The Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs played a new song called Despair during a Hurricane Sandy benefit concert to a very intimate crowd of just seventy in Brooklyn earlier this month. Despair was described by Spin as “a spare thumper that recalled Florence and the Machine‘s ‘Dog Days Are Over’.” Either way, finally.
