A change in seasons means a change in wardrobe. As we say goodbye to dark days and heavy coats we simultaneously say hello to lighter layers and longer days. With spring already here and summer just around the corner we asked seven of our Sydney friends for their style predictions.

What are you wearing in this photo? Some cargos I got from a surplus store, Eytys derby shoes, an Undercover tee, Saint Laurent frames, and a Undercover x Vandalise bomber.
What’s the best thing about Summer? It’s socially acceptable to eat ice-cream all the time and cold air con feels extra nice.
What’s the worst thing about Summer? It’s too hot to wear pants and jackets. My legs never see the sun so when I wear shorts I get really burnt.
What’s the last item of clothing you bought? And what are you eyeing off as your next? I just bought a Slimmane-era silver Dior Homme badge from Japan, and i’m looking at getting some silk Dries van Noten shirts for summer.
What will you be wearing this spring/summer? Lots of flowy short sleeve shirts over thin sweaters, loose flowy pants too. Something like Margiela SS17.
What do you think will be the big trends this spring/summer? Even Thom Browne has moved away from cropped pants, I think semi-wide pants that slightly stack will be seen everywhere soon.
Is there anything you won’t be caught dead wearing this spring/summer? Anything from Heron Preston.
Have you got a local label or store that you’d like to shout out? Permanently Necessary from Melbourne, Pseushi and Conceptd10 from Sydney.

What are you wearing in this photo? UNIF sweater, thrifted belt and jeans, Poppy Lissiman purse, Flash Jewellery solid gold hoops.
What’s the best thing about Summer? The vibe. Everyone is just generally in better spirits in summer.
What’s the worst thing about Summer? Not being able to wear turtle necks! I love winter fashion and layering.
What’s the last item of clothing you bought? And what are you eyeing off as your next? The belt I’m wearing here, a lucky Salvos find. I’m on the hunt for some statement suit pants.
What will you be wearing this spring/summer? I’m loving yellow at the moment and celebrating colour. I love the juxtaposition in the design of this Poppy Lissiman purse, floral print with bold red lettering that reads POWER! This is what spring/summer is going to look like in my wardrobe.
What do you think will be the big trends this spring/summer? Bold colours: red, yellow, and orange. And also the overt display of logos.
Is there anything you won’t be caught dead wearing this spring/summer? I wouldn’t rule anything out haha I have a tendency to gravitate towards items that are “kitsch”.
Have you got a local label or store that you’d like to shout out? I love Pageant Studio.

03. Rian

Instagram handle: @Rian.Arnold
What are you wearing in this photo? Song for the Mute: Worker Jacket, Oversized Distressed Knit, Pleated Tapered Pant, and Dr. Martens 1416 derbys.
What’s the best thing about Summer? Opening all the windows and doors in my house, putting a on a record and kicking back with a glass of wine.
What’s the worst thing about Summer? Absolutely nothing.
What’s the last item of clothing you bought? And what are you eyeing off as your next? To be honest, I haven’t bought clothes in a while. However, the last thing I purchased was a shitload of Aesop. Next thing I’m looking to cop would be a couple of records I’ve been eyeing off for a while now.
What will you be wearing this spring/summer? Summer’s going to be over 35 degrees so comfort will be key.
What do you think will be the big trends this spring/summer? Luxe Lad.
Is there anything you won’t be caught dead wearing this spring/summer? Yeezy.
Have you got a local label or store that you’d like to shout out? Shout outs to my fam at Song for the Mute.

04. Makai & Rachel

Instagram handles: @makxai, @rachelteetyler
What are you wearing in this photo? Makai: Needles track pants, Anti-Hero tee, vintage shirt, Bapesta sneakers, Bape hat, Louis Vuitton bag. Rachel: vintage bowling shirt, Scotch & Soda pants, Nike Air More Uptempo sneakers, Gucci bag.
What’s the best thing about Summer? Everyone seems to be a bit more relaxed, whether it be their mood or their fashion. The sun is definitely good for the soul.
What’s the worst thing about Summer? Being a bit more limited in what you can wear in Sydney’s heat.
What’s the last item of clothing you bought? And what are you eyeing off as your next? Makai: My last item of clothing purchased was the Needles pants featured in this outfit. My next purchase might have to be the velvet pair, obsessed. Rachel: My last purchase was a pair of Acne ‘Manhattan’ sneakers, the ultimate dad shoe. I’m not eyeing anything in particular for my next, my favourite items are always just random things I stumble upon.
What will you be wearing this spring/summerMakai: ’80s Cuban drug dealer. Rachel: ’80s Cuban drug dealer’s wife.
What do you think will be the big trends this spring/summer?
Trucker hats are definitely popping off at the moment, which is perfect for summer. The baggy silhouette is also making a comeback. And as you can tell we love playing with colour.
Is there anything you won’t be caught dead wearing this spring/summer? Black.
Have you got a local label or store that you’d like to shout out? Pseushi, shouts to Chris!

05. Dimitri

Instagram handle: @abovethecloudsstore
What are you wearing in this photo? Nike Air Max 97, Nike tech pants, Above The Clouds tee, and Champion coaches jacket.
What’s the best thing about Summer? Finishing work when it’s still light and eating more seafood.
What’s the worst thing about Summer? There’s nothing bad about summer in Sydney. Boxing day sales are pretty crazy so I look forward to when that’s over.
What’s the last item of clothing you bought? And what are you eyeing off as your next? A vintage Polo tee was the last thing. Heading to Tokyo soon so will see what is there. Probably more vintage Polo!
What will you be wearing this spring/summer? I don’t wear shorts a whole lot so I’ll probably just will wear Chuck ’70s or Club C, Levi’s washed denim 501, and a variety of tees. I keep it pretty simple in Summer. Winter is much easier to layer and mix it up.
What do you think will be the big trends this spring/summer? Definitely more colour coming through from all the brands. Bright orange tees, royal blue, pastels… all the colours no one wanted to wear the last couple years. Orange has definitely been having a resurgence this winter already.
Is there anything you won’t be caught dead wearing this spring/summer? No one wears boots in Summer, right?
Have you got a local label or store that you’d like to shout out? Shoutout to all the independent stores across the country. There’s not many of us left…support your local where you can.

What do you think will be the big trends this spring/summer? I think that ivy Style is making a resurgence for the older guys who want to look smart, yet still casual. whilst the 90’s revival for the younger kids seems to be going strong so think Stussy, Polo etc.
