As we have all had to accept that the rise of the Nintendo Switch meant a switch to gamers being charged to play online, it’s nice to cast our minds back to the times when corporations were more transparent with their clientele.

The kings of modding portable systems, Rose Coloured Gaming, have recently come through with a run of transparent Super Nintendo consoles. Crafted from original Nintendo hardware and treated to a brand new, hand built exterior, these babies give units that would have otherwise been irreparable a new, snazzy-looking life. The transparent SNES and newly assembled/hacked matching controller are a pair at last! This was probably my favorite project. The design needs a serious revamp because of the incredibly tedious assembly process, but it was still a great learning experience with regards to what I can and can’t get away with using JUST laser cut parts and fasteners. I’ve got some plans for a revision though, so DO expect to see this sort of thing as a salable product at some point in the future… @nintendolife #snes #supernintendo #nintendo #superfamicom
