Japanese fashion designer and founder of Comme Des Garçons made a rare appearance at Gosha Rubchinskiy’s Autumn/Winter 16 fashion show, which has fashion enthusiasts excited, as Rei Kawakubo is an enigma.

One of fashion’s favourite designers hasn’t taken a portrait since 2004, she doesn’t take a bow at the end of her catwalk shows, and very rarely grants interviews—that’s why the sighting of the mysterious designer is so interesting.

Kawakubo’s appearance at the Rubchinskiy’s show does make sense though, as Comme des Garçons produces and distributes Rubchinskiy’s collections through Dover Street Market, but that doesn’t lessen the impact of seeing her front row sporting a red leather jacket, next to her husband/president of Comme, Adrian Joffe.
