Footnotes is a weekly wrap-up of everything that’s happening in the world of sneakers. It’s your cheat sheet to the latest news like new drops, collabs, sales, store openings, and anything else related to what you put on your feet.

01. Sean Wotherspoon’s take on Nike Air Max Hybrid releasing soon

Earlier this year, Air Max fans voted for their favourite ‘RevolutionAir’ design in Nike’s Vote Forward contest. Vintage storeowner and sneaker collector Sean Wotherspoon took the crown with his vivid corduroy design, which combines the Air Max 97 and Air Max 1 Hybrid, that’s inspired by Nike hats from the 80’s. The shoe comes with unique alterations, such as a smiley graphic on the sole, reworked tongue graphics, and “VA to LA” scrawled on the denim heel tabs. Wotherspoon’s Air Max Hybrid is set for a limited release in Virginia and Los Angeles next month, with a wider release on Air Max Day in March 2018.

02. Pusha T’s ‘brown paper bag’ Adidas EQT

Of all things, Pusha T’s latest collaboration with Adidas Originals is inspired by the humble brown paper bag. Symbolic of drug transactions and good business on the streets, what has been dubbed as the ‘Brown Paper Bag EQT Support Ultra’ pays homage to the life of the hustler. The sneaker features a tanned fish-scale leather and brown Primeknit upper, a Boost midsole and ‘King Push’ emblazoned on the lace locks.

03. Pink Dolphin x FILA T1 Mid

Los Angeles based label Pink Dolphin and FILA have teamed up to launch a capsule collection that combines Pink Dolphin’s vibrant aesthetic with FILA’s classic style. In terms of footwear, the collection features an 80’s inspired take on the FILA T1 Mid. The collaborative sneaker comes in two colourways: black with the FILA flag in Shell Pink and Dark Blue, and French blue with the flag in French blue and Shell Pink. Both iterations are embellished with a combined logo on the tongue, Pink Dolphin’s ‘Ghost’ logo on the heel tab, and come in a premium smooth and perforated leather upper. The Pink Dolphin x FILA T Mid will be available from October 21 at Pink Dolphin’s online store.

04. The Weeknd x PUMA XO Parallel

The Weeknd’s collaboration with Puma combines a military boot aesthetic with classic high-top basketball shoes. The debut ‘XO Parallel’ came in an off-white colourway, and is now making a comeback in Olive green with a contrasting white Ignite-cushoined sole. The latest XO Parallel sneaker is part of The Weeknd and PUMA’s new Fall/Winter lookbook, which features heavily distressed, utilitarian-inspired denim garments. The Weeknd reckons the XO Parallel is a shoe for everyone, where he stated in an interview with Footwear News, “I just want to see everyone wearing it… I to see the pope wearing it. I want to see Obama wearing it. I want to see Elon Musk wearing it”. The second XO Parallel drop will be available at Puma retailers globally from October 26, including puma.com and select retail locations.

05. Converse x Golf Le Fleur

Tyler the Creator’s GOLF Le FLEUR collection in collaboration with Converse has been making a lot of noise lately. This past Winter, Tyler the Creator brought his fun, colourful aesthetic to the Converse One Star silhouette, and has now transformed the One Star for a limited edition collection that reworks the sneaker in three colourways: Jolly Green, Solar Power, and Vanilla. The newest GOLF Le FLEUR x Converse sneaker features the GOLF Le FLEUR graphic on the outsole, exaggerated eye stays, comfort collar, tongue and heel counter overlay. The new limited edition GOLF le FLEUR collection launches Thursday November 2 exclusively at www.converse.com.au, Converse Emporium, Supply Store, and Up There Store $160.
