Okay, so it’s technically Saturday here in Australia but it’s still Friday somewhere else in the world right? Remember when streetwear meant baggy jeans, loud hoodies and even louder sneakers? It feels like ancient history and in some ways it is and in other ways, it was only 2008. Six years ago, we were hearing about Kanye West but he wasn’t necessarily screaming in our ears all the time; Pharrell Williams was kind of a household name but he was that guy with the cute face from that group that featured on rappers’ songs. How times have changed.

This flashback to a 2008 A Bathing Ape lookbook is like looking at anybody’s childhood photo album. Kind of cringeworthy, kind of nostalgic and whole lot of perspective and appreciation of how far we’ve all come. Founder NIGO features in the lookbook, alongside backpack era Kanye, Pharrell and a fresh faced Big Sean. Dust off that BAPE zip-through and take a walk down streetwear memory lane in the gallery above.
