He may be sitting on a career-ending injury, but there’s no slowing Kobe Bryant when it comes to his sneaker franchise for Nike. And, if the Jordan brand is anything to go by, there’ll still be yearly fresh Kobe kicks for decades after he retires. That said, there’s something undeniably special about the sneakers that you actually get to see the superstars wearing, and it looks like the Kobe X Elites, due for release in April, may well be the last we see the Black Mamba actually rock on the court.

Designed by Eric Avar with direct insight from Bryant himself, the tall silhouette (reminiscent of Jordan XX8s) allows it to be the first Nike sneaker to be constructed from recycled polyester yarn – a Flyknit upper with dynamic Flywire. The sole unit is stacked, with three of the Nike’s signature technologies: Lunarlon, Zoom Air and Free.
