Last night saw the launch of the Nike Tiempo ’94 and Nike Tiempo Legend V in Sydney – the first market in the world to launch the release, ha! Take that Northern Hemisphere!
With the biggest football event in the world taking place in Brazil next year, all eyes are on the sport and also on its history. The Tiempo first came into focus on July 14, 1994, when two teams took to the pitch in Pasadena, California to play for the world’s biggest prize. Nike first football boot, the black and white Nike Tiempo Premier was seen on the field. The exciting new silhouette was perfectly matched to the progressive new lineup of athletes who wore them. Over the next 20 years their attitude would shape some of the best players football has ever seen. And it all began with Tiempo!
Tiempo has since become a soccer icon. In celebration, last night Nike introduced, the Tiempo ’94, a shoe for everyday that takes cues from the sports shoe that started it all. They also launched the Tiempo Legend V, a boot that brings new innovation to the pitch.
On the pitch, players like Ronaldo took everything, gave nothing and wore the Tiempo Premier. The Nike Tiempo ‘94 channels that same energy into a casual silhouette that features a black stitched leather upper, contrasting white swoosh, and suede overlays that take direct inspiration from the Tiempo Premier. An oversized, removable tongue and stitched yellow heel swoosh also pay homage to the original shoe’s design.
As for the Tiempo Legend V, this technical boot is focused on two key traits: touch and consistent weight. An enhanced fit mixed with innovative materials, coupled with a new upper package comprised of two trimmed down layers. the Tiempo Legend V mimics the touch and lightweight feel of a synthetic and is built on the same anatomical last as the revolutionary Nike Hypervenom to bring the foot closer to the ball. Whilst we might not all be pro-athletes, last night proved the Tiempo is something we all can get on board with.
