For his ambitious project, Space Program: Mars, conceptual artist Tom Sachs created an epic installation of work depicting a four-week trip to Mars, transforming 55,000sq into an “immersive space odyssee” manned by himself and a crew of thirteen, demonstrating the procedures and processes of their ‘mission’.

As part of the project, Sachs teamed up with Nike to produce the clothing for himself and his crew to wear during their mission. The pieces are constructed from materials used by NASA, including bags made from Ortho, a fabric used for the outer shell of spacesuits, and shoes utilising Vectran fiber, the same material used for the airbags in exploration rovers. The pieces are available in NikeCraft’s limited edition capsule consisting of a tote, a duffel, a backpack and  two jackets fusing function with a space age look, available now at the Opening Ceremony webstore.
