It seems lately that all our Back To The Future dreams are slowly coming to fruition, with even the hover-board getting a look in to possible production thanks to Lexus. While we’ve been presented a variety of real life variations of Marty McFly’s signature kicks from the second iteration of the iconic series, we’re yet to have seen any true indications that their power lacing functions might bless our timeline – until now.

The former art director at Portland advertising agency Wieden+Kennedy, who had a big hand in Nike’s branding, tweeted a particularly interesting image. Max Erdenberger’s photo, which looks like a version of the Nike Mag with possible power-lacing (see gallery above), is captioned with October 21, 2015 – the same date Marty McFly lands in, in BTTFII.

In January, Tinker Hatfield, prolific Air Jordan designer, suggested to fans that the tech would arrive this year. While it’s by no means any kind of confirmation of that, and Erdenberger’s recent responses to the image likely support this, the date would certainly be a great choice to unveil some kind of exciting new tech. It unfortunately looks like we’ll probably have to wait a bit longer for a release (you’ve got three and a half months to keep your vague promise Nike), but we’d say a grand reveal of a working flux capacitor as consolation would certainly be a great look too.
