Heritage footwear label Red Wing Shoes, have just released this short clip which showcases the time precision and effort that goes into making the mold for a pair of shoes.

The label utilises their craftsmen, which provides a special and unique quality not often found in shoes these days.

The video follows the master molder Craig Holst, as he takes us step by step through the process of creating the mold in-house.

Watch and see how he takes the time to craft the shoes bottom, the reverse mold, and measures and weighs the mold. It’s a long and arduous process – taking between 5–6 days for the mold’s completion however we think the shoes are worth every bit the labour-intensiveness that goes into them.

Red Wing Shoes take their shoes and molds seriously, and so do we – that’s why we love to wear them! Check out the process in the video above.
