This shoot was for hair stylist, Joshua Leonard. Josh always does such a great job combining all the elements for our shoots that even before I had heard the concept, I knew it would be pretty fantastic. Josh chose Brittany Bishop as the model who has such great natural red curly hair and was perfect for this boho look.

During the shoot Josh kept calling Brittany ‘ghetto’ and making all these hip-hop references. I thought how could someone so sweet-looking be that into hip-hop and rap. Surely not. I reeled off a bunch of hip-hop artists and asked if she listened to them. She didn’t listen to them, so I just kept my favourite hip-hop playlist a secret for the drive home.

After the shoot when she changed back into her everyday clothes there was a transformation, and I could see that hip-hop/rap influence coming out. Then her phone rang and it was a pretty thuggin ringtone. So I was all, like, “daymm gurl whaddup!” Then I busted out my best freestyle about the photoshoot we just did and crip walked in a circle around the team. Ok so I didn’t do any of that and I forget what the point of this story was. I think it had something to do with not judging a book by its cover until you hear that book’s ringtone. Plus I wanted to pretend that I could freestyle and crip walk for a second.

Enjoy the pictures and play safe.
