Google has just announced a partnership with the world’s largest eyewear company, Luxottica. The two mega-corporations have agreed to join forces, meshing fashion with innovative technology to create a new line of eyewear for Glass.

By pairing with Luxottica, Google has proven its determination to overcome the ‘glasshole’ stereotype and bring its new technology into the mainstream. The Italian company, based in Milan, controls over 80% of the world’s major eyewear brands including, Ray-Ban, Oakley, Vogue and Oliver Peoples, as well as creating eyewear under license for Chanel, Versace, Prada, Bvlgari and Armani just to name a few.

The two corporations will establish a team of experts to design, develop, engineer and distribute a whole new breed of Google Glass to be initially launched under Ray-Ban and Oakley.

The tech giant is hoping to quell swelling consumer doubts through relying on the reputation for design associated with Luxottica’s many brands. Whilst also gaining access to the eyewear company’s vast distribution networks.

As Google explains in a post: “Luxottica understands how to build, distribute, and sell great products…They’ll bring design and manufacturing expertise to the mix, and, together, we’ll bring even more Glass style choices to our Explorers.”

It’s now just a matter of time before you’ll be able to browse the net, take sneaky snaps and spy on people all from behind a pair of designer frames.
