Approximately 50km from the Namibian border lies the Hakskeen Pan, in South Africa’s Norther Cape. The desolate space, that looks about as inviting as a One Direction concert and as fictional as a Mad Max set plays host once a year to the Kalahari Desert SpeedWeek, aka, “Woodstock for petrol heads”; admittedly the idea of Jimi Hendrix racing speed-bikes through the desert is a little difficult to picture.

we-are-awesome recently travelled to the remote desert to document the event and the few lost souls that venture out to flex their mechanical brawn every year. The result is some stunning dystopian imagery and an insight into one of the most isolated automotive events on Earth.
