Barry ‘Twist’ McGee opened his latest solo show at LA’s Prism Gallery the other night. This is the artist’s second show at the gallery and his most recent collection of works seems to be a spiritual successor to his 2009 exhibition ‘Mind the Gap’. All the elements of a Twist show were there, from the claustrophobic stacking of framed pieces to the animatronic graffiti robots that define his work.

McGee is one of the few artists who’ve successfully managed to bridge the gap between the graffiti and fine art worlds, with his pieces in the gallery space working just as effectively as those on the street. He approaches his separate practices as very distinct elements, but they fit seamlessly within the context of his wider work. The show is up until the 30th of June.
