Weather apps ain’t exactly the sexiest things around, but with the new SOLAR app for Hollr Inc. it looks like that’s about to change – that is if you’re design nerds like us and find slick interfaces a turn on.

Slick design, fast-forwarding forecast and animated backgrounds are aspects that’ll immediately draw you in. This app slides through 24 hour weather with a simply skim of your finger up the screen. The pull-down feature displays a three-day forecast, handy for planning future escapades.

Pinching or double-tapping reduces the view to a set of tiles with your current location and every other weather location that has been specified. Swiping left or right navigates through the various locations. The highlight has to be the brilliant colourscapes.

Not to be confused with the Logitech app that oversees your iPhones battery power, this app is the next best thing since chicken and avocado grilled cheese sandwiches. If you’ve heard of, and like, the app Clear , you’ll like this. Solar is beautiful, unique and polished and it’s $0.99 via the Mac app store and is compatible with iPhone and iPod touch (it requires iOS 5.0 or above).
