California based artist Christina Empedocles creates visually stunning, photorealistic wax pencil drawings on paper.

She works with intricacy and delicacy to bring to life her vivid avian theme, and the artist utilises shades of grey to create a strong palette, allowing Empedocles to depict a freeze frames of these birds in motion.

Her drawings create a natural realism which sees the birds she draws come flying up and out of the paper they are etched into.
