DAKU’s new street art moves with the sun

A textual piece on life's fragility

Posted by

Street artist DAKU has created a profound typographic art piece on a wall in New Dehli. DAKU, a pseudonym translating to “bandit” in Hindi, begun appearing on the walls of India in 2008. This latest piece, named ‘Time changes everything’, creates a visual representation of the passing of time. The three-dimensional text casts shadows onto the wall, almost like a sundial, symbolising the perpetual passing of time.

The text-art moves throughout the day as the sun changes its place in the sky. Some of the words projected onto the wall include “illusion”, “past”, “present”, “future”, “fame” and “life”, just to remind you that life is ephemeral, we are all simply transiting through time, and that we are all going to die.

Take a look at details of the piece in the gallery above.
