News just came through that Disney has just purchased Lucasfilm Ltd. for $4.05 billion, a deal that includes all the rights to the entire Star Wars franchise. George must be pretty happy with himself and his $4.05 billion windfall, but what would this mean for the millions of Star Wars fans that brought him that wealth? Well, we get a Disney produced Stars Wars: Episode 7 scheduled for 2015 and plans for future movies to come out every couple of years.

Here’s what the man behind it all had to say:

“For the past 35 years, one of my greatest pleasures has been to see Star Wars passed from one generation to the next. It’s now time for me to pass Star Wars on to a new generation of filmmakers. I’ve always believed that Star Wars could live beyond me, and I thought it was important to set up the transition during my lifetime.”

Georgie boy will still be involved as a creative consultant, but will this spell the doom of the greatest folktale of the 20th century or breathe new life into it? Maybe they might replace Jar Jar with Goofy? What will the plot for Episode Seven be? Is $4.05 billion just a made up number? Many questions still exist but I guess we’ll just have to wait and find out…
