Last Saturday saw the official debut of Carbon X, our official offshoot of the annual Carbon Festival of Art and Design. We decided to kick things off with a panel discussion looking at much maligned and misunderstood subculture of graffiti. In a post-street art world where legal walls seem to dominate much of the cultural focus, we thought it was apt to give a platform for discussion to core graffiti writers who tend to shun the spotlight. Our panellists represented five unique voices from five different countries — Merda from Australia, Nemco from Italy, Mickey from the Netherlands, Fuzi from France, and Ket from America.

Each individual’s personal story and opinions about the form were wildly different, but they were all united in their passion for the graffiti as an expressive medium.
