Tokyo’s AMP space recently presented new works from Ryuichi Ogino. Ogino’s kitschy style is simple at first glance, but when observed closely its symbols and images are provocative and esoteric as they permeate a sense of mystery. The title for this exhibition; “MONO” which means “objects” in Japanese, suggests Ogino’s belief and disbelief in art and its role in hyper-consumerism society. In this exhibition, Ogino also showcased sculptural pieces in which he collaborated with his fellow artists; MHAK, Que Houxo, SKOP, Yoshi47, and bE.
