This week, Jumbo and Ox go head-to-head int the Lo-Fi Collective’s Basel Royale Art Prize.

The competition, running until November 7, will challenge the artistic endurance of 24 Sydney-based artists in a socially driven 12-week competition.

Each week two artists will be given three hours on Thursday evenings to create an artwork at Lo-Fi on a 1.2 metre by 1.2 metre timber box as their submission for the art prize. One winner will be selected from the 24 final works on November 7 while they showcase their pieces in a public arena.

The overall winner will be sent to Art Basel Miami, December 5 – 8, 2013, with flights, accommodation and passes to events at the international arts festival. This convergence of key artistic figureheads is one of the art world’s most respected events with a mixture of historically important and contemporary works.

Lo-Fi Collective will judge the winner by posting each final work on Instagram, where likes on these posts will count as points towards a final score. A panel of judges will cast their own specially weighted votes, while the public can vote on the entries using tokens.
