LCD Soundsystem‘s front man has thrown down the mic (for now) and under the tutelage of super-director Ron Howard, has sat down in the director’s chair. The reason – Canon’s Project Imagination campaign. It’s pretty cool actually, the camera giant has gathered a bunch of talented celebs and told them to create their own short films based on a series of pictures that Canon customers have uploaded to the Project Imagination site.

Murphy’s film is called Little Duck, and it tells the story of “a young man pulled from his life in Manhattan back to his home in rural Japan when his estranged brother runs into trouble.” Shot in Japan and NY, the film is set to drop at the Project Imagination Film Festival this year.

Other celebs trying their hand at directing for Canon include Jamie Foxx, Eva Longoria, Twitter co-founder Biz Stone, and fashion designer Georgina Chapman.
