Yes, Lush did paint that nude selfie mural of Eric Andre [NSFW]

The two nude selfie advocates team up for one giant dick pic

Street artist Lush has been causing quite a ruckus around Melbourne’s alleyways as of late, most notably with his murals of Kimmy K’s naked selfie, Hillary Clinton in all her glory, and Taylor/Harambe’s respective memorial. He’s received complaints from the council for the often-NSFW works of graffiti, as well as widespread international news coverage but, I mean, can you ever really stop the movement? Apparently not even Instagram can keep Lush down, with his account disappearing and the reappearing, following the politically-charged series of murals painted over the last couple of weeks.

If you follow the troll-happy artist, you’ll know that Lush frequently solicits nude selfies from followers as inspiration for future artworks and recently, he asked the universe for a very specific one – from Adult Swim’s notorious talk show host Eric Andre. And as they say, “Ask and you shall receive”. It wasn’t long before the man himself, Eric Andre, jumped on the bandwagon and giving Lush permission via the DMs. Are we surprised? Not really; Andre’s been gaining some notoriety recently for posting explicit naked selfies on Instagram. Some of which have still somehow managed to remain on the platform that is quick to nix the slightest hint of nipple.

Whatever your opinions are of Lush’s work, it has been the catalyst of an important debate; where is the line between censorship, the right of the artist, and freedom of expression? Even if he’s doing it for the fun of offending people, these murals are important. Not only are they an anti-conservative statement in their own right, but they are a snapshot of moments in popular and political culture. But people seem to be deterred by the nudity. Why? I really don’t know. Everyone has the same bits and pieces. Our bodies should be championed, not censored. And for a city that prides itself on individuality and artistry, shouldn’t these murals be encouraged? We’re assuming Lush’s IRL mural will be buffed fairly soon, so when it does, take comfort (or discomfort) in the knowledge that Andre posted the explicit evidence to Instagram himself (see the gallery above, if you dare).

Anyway, are you feeling compelled to graffiti your own naked selfie onto the side of your house yet? Check out some of the most well known Lush murals in the gallery above to get inspired.
