In what was probably the least fun trip to a theme park ever, five people were arrested in possession of 40 kilos of cocaine in the Dreamworld car park on Monday night. The arrest was part of an international operation involving multiple agencies in an effort to intercept what is believed to be Queensland’s biggest cocaine bust, ever. Following the arrest, a further 30kg of cocaine was discovered in Coomera stashed aboard a yacht that had been tracked by authorities since its departure from Vanuatu.

Apparently an Estonian man commandeered the yacht from Vanuatu to Queensland before meeting with a 58yr old UK national. The two men then drove the relatively short distance from the yacht to Dreamworld, where three Australian men were waiting to receive the drugs. Too bad they didn’t get a go on the Tail Spin. With an estimated AU$17m in street value, the seizure has a surprisingly high purity level of more than 80 per cent. According to the Australian Crime Commission, the median purity of cocaine in Australia fluctuates anywhere between 9.5 and 64.5 per cent, which led authorities to suggest that the seizure was in fact imported by a high profile buyer.
