If you’ve had the good fortune of not interacting with myki on daily basis, then here’s a bit of an explanation: the ticketing system that the State of Victoria, Australia uses for trains, trams and buses has been a wall-to-wall debacle since its inception. The project ran five years over budget, came in at a staggering cost of $1.5 billion and was plagued by glitches on its launch. Naturally, the commuters of Victoria are not happy. Not content with just complaining at the pub, the people behind Twitter account @cheaperthanmyki were galvanised into action and put together a list of cool things that Victoria could have spent those funds on, that – you guessed it – are cheaper than myki.
