Introducing Acclaim issue 38 ‘Amplify’

Featuring: Vince Staples, King Krule, Kelela, Moses Sumney, The Syx, Hahan, and much more

Posted by

The 38th issue of Acclaim magazine features stories of people, collectives, and projects that redefine paradigms and explore new ideas on their own terms. It focuses on people injecting a fresh perspective, and amplifies people reclaiming culture and power.

Vince Staples stars on the cover of the issue in a feature length interview rallying against the fake shit that comes with a hip-hop career. We speak to Kelela about negotiating space on stage and in the studio, come to appreciate South African collective The Syx who bring their special mix of style, self determination, and independence to fashion, talk about the ways we fail to interrogate love and romance with Moses Sumney, discuss negotiating power and perspective with Zara Julius, uncover Hahan’s interrogation of the art world, and contrast it with the fraught realities that The Office of Culture and Design have to confront in the Philippines.

The issue was guest edited by Roj Amedi, who has worked across media and the arts as a writer, editor, strategist, and creative director.
